Here's the "old School Weekly" for you guys...for those of you who dont who Black Moon is...call for help and have someone remove that rock you've livin under. Here's a little history of them for you....
Black Moon is an American hip hop group, consisting of members Buckshot, 5ft and DJ Evil Dee (of Da Beatminerz). The group is most well-known for their debut album Enta Da Stage, and their affiliation with the Boot Camp Clik.

During the group's hiatus, DJ Evil Dee continued his production career with his crew Da Beatminerz, and lead MC Buckshot headed out and formed his own supergroup called the Boot Camp Clik, featuring fellow Brooklyn locals Smif-N-Wessun, Heltah Skeltah and O.G.C.. Following the releases of the debuts from Smif-N-Wessun (Dah Shinin'), Heltah Skeltah (Nocturnal), and O.G.C. (Da Storm), Black Moon reformed on Buckshot's label Duck Down Records. In late 1996, Nervous Records released a Black Moon compilation album titled Diggin' In Dah Vaults, which featured a number of remixes and b-side tracks. After the group's split with Nervous Records, Black Moon became entangled in a legal battle over the licensing rights of their group name, which lasted for a number of years. The case was finally settled in 1998, and they were able to license the name through Nervous.

yo check this out man...im not from this state but ive spent half of my life in the southwest with 6yrs of it being in Phoenix. eventho im not a native, im a resident of this stae in which i do a LOT of shows out here. most people show me love and i greatly appreciate it, but...*sigh*...this state and its state of Hip Hop really frustrates me. you have two artists...well...three artists out here who have made it to a major international level of exposure on major labels. one of them have already flopped (i aint sayin no names but if you live in AZ you know who it is) one who has recently dropped an album on Ludacris' DTP label (Willie Northpole) and my dude Rick (Juice) who is about to dropp his album shortly on Games Black Wallstreet label. here's the thing man...thie state has a HUGE lack of talent but even worse; a bigger lack of unity. no one wants to build out here and create a movement. instead they wanna claim to be the #1 rapper in AZ (suck a dick 2-tone) and have the illest crew, "we doin big things" blah, blah, blah...problem is...NONE of it is true. so this track is how i feel about AZ Hip Hop. like or love...whatever emotion this song creates (negative or good) its still REAL TALK. Sorry for missing the last friday. Ive been real busy doing shows and working on a new ep called "Lady Soul" droppin early Sept. 2009. So since Ive deprived you, Im gonna give you TWO "Old School Weekly" features this week. Today's weekly is Das Efx...Im still keepin it REAL Old School peoples. You SHOULD know who they are...BUT for those who dont...here's some histopry of the duo...

Group member Skoob hails from Brooklyn, New York City while Krazy Drayzy hails from Teaneck, New Jersey but the two met at Virginia State University in 1988 and began performing together. They named themselves "Das" standing for "Drayz and Skoob" and "EFX" meaning "effects". Das EFX caught the attention of EPMD at a local talent show where, despite losing the competition, they did well enough to convince EPMD to sign them to a recording contract. The duo gained critical and commercial fame with the release of their landmark debut album, Dead Serious, which highlighted their unusual rapping style which they nicknamed "sewage".

Dead Serious went platinum and its lead single, "They Want EFX,"(which contains samples from James Brown's "Blind Man Can See It" and Malcolm McLaren's "Buffalo Gals") reached the top ten on Billboard magazine's R&B chart, the top 40 on its Hot 100 Singles chart and #1 on its Hot Rap Tracks chart. Follow-up singles "Mic Checka" and "Straight Out the Sewer" did not chart on the Hot 100 but reached #1 and #3 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart, respectively. I've been lookin at a lot of blogs and reading comments from people about what he did with children and it makes me sad to think that we as people are so judgemental on others that we REALLY dont grasp the concept of death. Whatever he did or didn't do, he still has a family and MILLIONS of fans who love him greatly. When somone leaves earth and you love them, a part of you go with them. All I can say is this man changed entertainment by himself and paved the way for the others who wanted to follow in his footsteps. This man LITERALLY changed the world with his music. Trends Of Culture: 1993
Aside from one well-received single in 1995,Trends Of Culture more or less disappeared after releasing a first-rate piece of music in the form of their 1993 album, Trendz. The LP makes an inferior, but worthy, companion piece to contemporaneous releases like Enter The Wu-Tang and Black Moon’s Enta Da Stage. Trendz is a dark yet lively record that playfully glorifies a mildly sociopathic lifestyle. Emcee Nastee is the standout member of the trio, combining an uninhibited musical delivery with the braggadocio of Lord Finesse. The other members, Grapevine and M.O.L., also hold their own as rappers and while they may not be as compelling or vocally gifted as Nastee, they each have several moments of great rhyming. M.O.L., the album’s primary producer, uses clever breaks and samples from the world of 70’s jazz and 80’s R&B to create a mood that is both melodic and rugged. The songs on Trendz display a variety of flavors without making the album feel disjointed, and as a result things stay interesting throughout, from “Mad Flavor Mad Styles,” a funky party record, to the hazy and bleak “Crotch Ripper/Mad Speaker.”

Hip Hop is still alive it just shackled and enslaved...it hasn't gone anywhere at all. you just have to search for it now, where as before you could turn on MTV and see unsigned artist like Organized Konfusion, Das Efx, Chino XL, Bush Babies, Boogie Monsters...the list goes on. none of those cats were signed to major labels...all indie. now artist are too lazy to grind like cats did back in the late 80's and early 90's cuz labels turned the life of Hip Hop into a dream...its no longer a religion. cats spit now days cuz its "cool" not because its in thier blood, breath, soul and or mind. not even because its ventilation...they do it "just cuz"...shit is gay if you ask me. breakers were replaced with people who do the stanky leg...dj's are just collectin music and pastin a bunch of songs together, scream over it and then call it a mix tape. dj's went from the park to the club...its sad. too me Hip Hop is not a culture anymore its a fad. Ok...everyone has been asking about this album for over a yr. so, here's the deal with it.. it’s actually been finished for over a year. It was set to be released summer of last year. Subjecting the American struggle, basically a recession based album. Ironically enough a recession started and due to the recession it caused some set backs and release delays. I was thinking today and thought, "how DARE I release and album about people financially struggling in America and then EXPECT them to purchase it!...what part of the game is that?" so here's the deal...due to the financial set backs I and America have experienced, I’m going to release this album in a couple weeks for free...yeah I said!....FREE!!!!!! the album is AMAZING so stay updated and follow the blog on where you can download it FREE...might be here, might be on my myspace, might be on other sites. first and for most as a child of Hip Hop i'll defend it and say its not just Hip Hop for the blame....pretty much entertainment in general is gettin out of hand...BUT...when you look at it, what do these companies use for advertisement to sell these products??.....Hip Hop. as a culture we need to change the way we represent ourselves as artists and children of Hip Hop. problem is, most of these cats aren't artists yet they're marketable which helps label owners sale their product (Hip Hop) to major corp. and franchises so they can sell theirs. it all comes back to Hip Hop. bottom line until it changes its ALWAYS gonna be blamed.
